A Frosty Morning Photoshoot with Lucy & Reggie

Lucy and her pony Reggie’s session took place on another cold but really lovely sunny morning. We met at the sun was rising make the most of the early light, which gave us nice soft conditions to start the day without rushing around later on.

Lucy’s yard had loads of great little locations dotted about, which meant we didn’t have to go far to get plenty of variety. We started in two beautiful redbrick stables that weren’t being used at the time, so we had the space to take our time and try different ideas.

Reggie, a dun Connemara, was very happy with the whole arrangement , mainly because it involved plenty of attention, fuss, and a steady supply of snacks throughout the morning. He settled into things quickly and was a perfect model.

After the first set, Lucy changed outfits and we headed down the track towards a small woodland area where we had more space to move around. The horses in the nearby fields thought our shoot was incredibly exciting, so we spent a bit of time letting them get used to us being there and allowing Reggie to relax again after their excitement. Taking a few quiet minutes made all the difference.

We used the main track with the sun shining strongly behind us to create some lovely wintery images. Lucy’s mum is quite involved with Reggie, so it was really nice to include her in a couple of photos as well. And a big thank you to Nicola for all the behind-the-scenes help during the shoot, it definitely makes such a difference!

We headed back to the yard for a little break and some snacks, before finishing with a short final set near some lovely blue doors and brick walls just around the corner. Lucy brought an amazing selection of outfits, and it was great being able to mix and match them with the different locations around the yard.
