I recently had the pleasure of photographing Lois, her husband, their two daughters Annie and Elsie, and their adorable dog Ralph at their beautiful home. With two ponies in their lovely little setup, this shoot was all about celebrating family life and capturing those precious moments while the girls are still little.
We started the session with the ponies, and it was instantly clear how much Annie and Elsie adore their four-legged friends. The girls were full of excitement and laughter, and the ponies, patient as ever , made sure to play their part perfectly. The golden sunshine gave us the most beautiful, soft light, wrapping everything in that warm, Autumn glow that is utterly priceless.
After spending some time with the ponies, we wandered around the garden for a few more relaxed, playful moments. There was plenty of hide and seek, giggles, and the kind of joyful chaos that only young children and a family dog can bring! Ralph joined in on the fun too, adding his own bit of personality to the day.
This session was everything I love about lifestyle equine and family photography — natural, full of life, and completely authentic. Every image tells a story of love, laughter, and the simple happiness of a family who clearly treasure their time together.
To finish, we took a few quiet moments for Lois and her pony, Merida, who she’s had for many years now. A few weeks later, we had our in-person viewing, where we sorted through the full collection of images together.
Seeing her reactions as each photograph appeared on the screen was such a lovely experience — from laughter at the girls’ cheeky grins to the quiet moments with the ponies. Together, we picked out a beautiful selection of favourites that perfectly capture their family’s story at this stage in life.
