5 ponies, Cleo the dachshund, and Nina and Georgia navigating end of school, uni, and summer jobs. This was a busy shoot! Rachel had booked a shoot for her daughters, and all their ponies the year before, and after some rubbish weather, we managed to get this in the diary over the summer holidays. Both Georgia and Nina compete their horses, in eventing and dressage so it was lovely to capture their individual relationships, as well as including Ben, their little pony who has remained in the family.
When we have multiple ponies, people, and yard like Totleywells with lots of different locations and parts of the yard, it's important to break things up into little sections. No one, wants to be leading 5 horses around all afternoon! The shoot started with Nina, and het two ridden ponies. Completely opposite personalities, these two could not be more different if they tried! We kept tings casual, jeans, jumpers and staying close to the yard while we had our hands full. Little Cleo even joined in for some of the images in the indoor arena, he was great to have joing I for parts of the day.
After including all the of 4-legged family members of Nina's, it was time to try and get our bit group shots. We used the indoor arena to take away any major distractions, and I'm so pleased we managed to get everybody in! A little bit of help Behind the Scenes, and a strong ability to multitask from the girls, we made it work.
After a snack break, we focussed on Georgia and her two boys to finish. These two were full of character, and were very brotherly, and thought it was a great time for some mutual grooming. Just like Nina's shoot, we split the second half into different locations, and made sure Bojo and Paddy were both included!
Thank you Rachel, Georgia and Nina for trusting me with your special ponies. I'm so pleased we managed to include everybody, and I can't wait to see what you do with the images!
