Last week I had a brilliant on-location with these two and Binning Wood in East Lothian. They won my Blair Atholl competition last summer, and we did our shoot in early May this year and we got sunshine spilling through the trees just as we arrived.

There’s something truly special about photographing in a quiet woodland—soft light, birdsong in the background, and the feeling that time slows down just a little. That was exactly the atmosphere for my recent shoot with the wonderful team of Sarah Jane, her beautiful horse Rolo, and husband Max, with collie Purdi who came along to.

We met in a tucked-away woodland spot in East Lothian, where the trees wrapped around us like a hug and the ground was carpeted lots of leaves, pine needles and spring grass. The sunlight filtered gently through the leaves, casting dappled patterns that danced across Rolo’s coat.

These two had an amazing trust in each other, and we covered a lot of ground (huge well done to them all for all the walking!), but every step gave us something new—a hidden bench, a sunbeam breaking through the branches, or a moment of pure connection between horse and human.

Rolo was a dream to work with, and it was clear just how much he and Sarah Jane trust and understand each other. I’m so excited to share the photos from this shoot—they capture not just the beauty of the setting, but the real warmth and bond between these two.

Days like this are what my summer shoots are all about: quiet places, real connections, and a little magic in the air. 🌿✨.

Of course, this shoot was topped off with some awesome outfits, and amazing help from husband Max BTS. These on location shoots do require a little bit more planning, and hands on help, however the results are so worth it. I can't wait to the beautiful 6in1 and album that will perfectly erasure these images for decades.
