In May this year, I had a fantastic shoot with these two and Binning Wood in East Lothian. Sarah Jane was the winner of my Blair Atholl competition in 2024, and we waited for the Spring sunshine to come out to have our shoot. Every client has a whole year to use their photoshoot with me, so you can really enjoy your favourite season.

There’s something truly special about photographing in a woodland—soft light, bristling leaves in the background, and the feeling that time slows down just a little. We had Sarah Jane, her pony Rolo, dog Purdi, and husband Max all join us for the day.

We met in a tucked-away woodland spot in East Lothian, where the trees wrapped around us like a hug and the ground was carpeted lots of leaves, pine needles and spring grass. The sunlight filtered gently through the leaves, casting dappled patterns that danced across Rolo’s coat.

These two had an amazing trust in each other, and we covered a lot of ground (huge well done to them all for all the walking!), but every step gave us something new—wooden benches, foliage avenues, or of course, a perfect snack opportunity for Rolo along the way!

Rolo was a dream to work with, and it was clear just how much he and Sarah Jane trust and understand each other. I’m was so excited to share the photos from this shoot—they capture not just the beauty of the setting, but the real warmth and bond between these two.

Days like this are what my Spring shoots are all about: quiet places, real connections, and a little magic in the air. 🌿✨.

Of course, this shoot was topped off with some awesome outfits, and amazing help from husband Max BTS. These on location shoots do require a little bit more planning, and hands on help, however the results are so worth it. Starting with a comfy jumper and jeans, and finishing off with a floaty blue dress, we had the best of both worlds. We designed a beautiful 6in1 and personalised coffee table album that will perfectly treasure these images for years to come!

Love these types of images, and think a woodland shoot would be right up your street. Get in touch here, to chat about all things photoshoot. P.S - travelling away from the yard not an option? Do not stress at all, 90% of shoots are done at home/ on livery yards, and we still create beautiful sets of images, no matter the location.
