A Year at Rockrose Equestrian: Six Shoots throughout 2026.
It all started last autumn with Sonya and Lady, when I had the pleasure of photographing them for my first shoot at Rockrose Equestrian.
It was a lovely introduction to the yard, and I was keen to bring something special to the Rockrose liveries, so last December I launched an exclusive yard offer, giving everyone an opportunity to book their own portrait experience with me.
And I'm delighted to say it went down rather well! Six shoots later, I've been back to Rockrose throughout this year, photographing some lovely horses, meeting new faces and even swapping a few hooves for paws along the way.
With sessions in April, Julys and October, it's been a lovely mix of shoots, and I thought it was about time I shared a little look back at them all.
Spring shoots with Ruth and Kirsty
My first two sessions of the year were with Ruth and Kirsty in April.
Spring is always a welcome change after the winter months, and it was lovely to be back at Rockrose, getting out with the horses and creating some beautiful portraits.
These sessions got my year of Rockrose shoots underway, with plenty more to look forward to over the coming months.
Summer shoots… apparently!
Next up were Amy and Sheelagh, when I returned to Rockrose for my summer sessions.
Now, I say summer, but the weather clearly hadn't received the memo. In fact, this was possibly the least summery shoot day we had all year!
Thank you Scotland! You can plan your outfits, get everything organised and look forward to a summer photoshoot, only to find yourself wondering where the sunshine has gone. Thankfully, Rockrose has so many barns, stunning brick walls, and sheltered areas, we managed to find some sunshine. and stay out of the windy gusts.
October brought three more shoots
After the spring and summer sessions, I was back at Rockrose in October for not one, not two, but three more shoots!
Not to choose favourites, but Autumn at Rockrose really is a special time of year. All the colours, with woolly jumpers and jackets make these images feel that little bit cosier.
Although Rockrose is very much where I've been spending my time photographing horses, I loved having the opportunity to photograph Beth's dogs, too. After all, our four-legged family members come in all shapes and sizes, and they deserve a little time in front of the camera as well.
It's always lovely to see how each session takes its own direction, depending on the animals and the people I'm photographing. No two are quite the same, which is a big part of what makes each gallery so different, even when our location is the same.
And yes… the yard offer is coming back!
One of the best parts of looking back at these six shoots is knowing that they all came about through last December's Rockrose yard offer. So, if you missed out last year, or have been thinking about booking a portrait experience of your own, I've got some good news.
The Rockrose Equestrian yard offer will be returning this December!

A big thank you to everyone featured above, for trusting me with your 4-legged family members.

And hopefully, next summer, we might even manage a little sunshine!
