Libby & Skippy – Celebrating the Teenage Pony Years
There’s something truly special about those teenage pony years — the seasons filled with early mornings at Pony Club, first competitions, and that unbreakable bond between a rider and the pony who’s made it all possible. Last September, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Libby and her wonderful pony, Skippy, at their beautiful farm renovation near Gleneagles.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect — sunshine streaming through the trees, soft breezes stirring the leaves, and that golden late-summer glow that makes every moment feel timeless.
It was clear how much these two mean to one another. Skippy had a harder summer with some health issues cropping up near the start, so it was lovey to see her getting back to her usual self in time for our photoshoot. Libby was fantastic, and took all of Skippy's cheeky moments with a smile. Together, they were pure joy to photograph.
We explored every corner of their picturesque surroundings, making the most of the stone walls, little archways, and green fields that framed their connection so beautifully. There were moments of laughter, quiet cuddles, and the unmistakable sparkle that comes from growing up alongside a beloved pony.
Styling
Libby's outfits were spot on. They totally represented early Autumn sunny days, and then a little more smarter for some of our final images giving us a beautiful match.
Even a year later, the portraits from Libby and Skippy’s session remain some of my most loved by future clients. They’ve graced my trade stands and portfolio displays, catching eyes and hearts alike. Perhaps it’s because everyone sees a bit of their own story in them — that treasured partnership, the sunlit days, and the joy of simply being together.
Libby and Skippy’s session was more than a photoshoot — it was a celebration of everything that makes the pony years so magical.
