She had an exceptionally tall order photographing all our family and animals and I have absolutely no idea how she managed to get so many fantastic shots of our animals from a fairly chaotic photo shoot with impatient horses! I always put a big emphasis on shoot days being a day dedicated in clients diary to enjoying and spending that day at home, with all the animals, and Kathryn’s recent family session was truly one of those occasions. Joined by the whole family, and their beloved dog Stella, the day unfolded with warmth, laughter, and some time spent enjoying their awesome location which is very much home.
We began with big family portraits—everyone together with the horses, framed by the sweeping willow tree that set such an enchanting scene, and a couple along the driveway too. The connection between them was effortless and genuine, with Stella happily joining in, completing the family story. These opening moments captured the strength of their bond and set the tone for the entire session.
After the family portraits, we turned our attention to Kathryn and her beautiful pony Eddie, as well as Isla with their ponies. We spilt this part of the shoot into sections so all the ponies had their individual time to shine. The combination of locations and ease between them made for timeless images. From the sweeping driveway, to finishing in the long grass field as the sun was slowly coming down after a sunny day, this was a special summer afternoon.
It's such a common thing that I come across where family's have many images from when the kids were tiny, and then theres this big gap in the teenage years. Combing everyone in lifestyle shoots like these is the perfect moment to include everyone without making it a job on the to-do list! So thank you Kathryn, for trusting me to capture these special moments.
