This recent shoot with Evie and her horses Lilly, were the perfect shoot to get back into the swing of things as we come out of the winter months. There are some photoshoots that stay with you forever, and this was certainly one of them. With a beautiful rustic yard, a tiny daschund puppy called Pickle, and a woodland bathed in warm February light, this one was pretty cool.

Our setting

As soon as I arrived at the yard, I knew we were in for something special. If a yard can look magical in February, you know you're in for something special. Filled with character and charm, the setting was straight out of an equestrian fairytale. Weathered wooden stables, and a perfect courtyard made it the perfect location to begin our shoot. We then moved out into a small field, and across to the front garden with a beautiful front door! The deep greens, Evie's outfits, and her amazing hair made for the perfect combination of colours. To finish off the shoot, Evie hacked Lilly over to their local woodland ( and she did an incredible job of outfit managing on route), and we followed in the car to meet her here. A quick untack, brush, and shoe change, and we were ready to go!

Every element of this shoot came together in perfect harmony: the idyllic locations, the warm February light, and, most importantly, the beautiful partnership between Evie and Lilly. The images from this shoot tell a story, and would make the most beautiful album to treasure over years to come.

I almost forgot to mention the dodging of rain showers skills we had to execute. So many people as do we shoot in the rain? In theory, no we don't tend to go ahead if we have a bad forecast, but showers we can work around! They timed in well with our outfit changes and snack breaks. Sometimes, a little bit of rain can add a pretty cool effect to your images too!
