This summer I spent a lovely morning at home with Clara and her horse, Hartley, for a shoot that felt like a particularly special one.
With Clara heading off to university this year, the shoot was all about celebrating the years these two have spent together. Hartley has been such a big part of Clara’s school years, so it felt like the perfect time to capture this chapter of their lives together before things start to change.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather and had one of those beautiful late-summer mornings that made the most of their lovely home location. We started with Clara in a long green dress, wandering through the foliage with Hartley, and with the sunlight twinkling through the trees, the light was just beautiful.
As the morning went on, we moved around the property, making use of the house and surrounding areas before finishing up at the stables. I love shoots at locations like these. With so much to use round every corner, we are truly spoilt for choice!
Looking back at teenage years, is there one thing you wish you could experience again? I always remember the feeling of waking up during the school holidays, knowing I had nothing else in my schedule that day than to spend the day with horses, and the best thing, it never got boring! Of course we captured Clara and Hartley how they were on this day, but pausing at the end of school milestone always allows us to reflect on how much changes in that decade, and to reflect on our favourite memories and days.
When it came to choosing how to display everything, we designed a gorgeous 6in1 multi-aperture frame alongside the included single frame that comes hand in hand with all my shoots, filled with some of her favourite images from the morning. We also included digitals so she could share the photographs with family and take some favourites back to uni.
