One of my favourite things to offer throughout the year is my multi-session shoot days. They're a fantastic way to bring together several clients at the same yard, creating a relaxed atmosphere while making the most of a beautiful location.
This particular shoot day took place in the stunning Highland town of Fortrose, overlooking the breathtaking Moray Firth. With incredible scenery in every direction, we were spoilt for choice, and although each session was completely unique, everyone got to enjoy the same three beautiful locations around the yard.
We started by heading up the hill onto the hacking tracks, where woodland paths and glimpses of the Moray Firth gave us the perfect combination of peaceful forest backdrops and sweeping Highland views. Back at the yard, we made the most of the characterful barns and farm buildings, each adding texture and personality to the photographs. Finally, we finished each session in the horses' turnout fields where they could happily munch while we had fun with some more creative images.
These Highland dates are always incredibly popular, and I usually visit the area 3-4 year, with sessions taking place in every season, allowing clients to choose between Summer, Autumn and the crispness of Winter.
Beth & Victor
Beth and Victor were the perfect pair to start the day. It was lovely watching the connection they share, and Victor was an absolute gentleman throughout the session.
The woodland tracks gave us such a peaceful setting, with beautiful light filtering through the trees before we stopped to take in the spectacular views. Beth's partner joined us for the first half, and it was lovely to have him included.
Linda & Shadow
Next up were Linda and the handsome Shadow.
One thing I love about these shared shoot days is that no two galleries ever look the same, even though we're using the same locations. Every horse has their own personality, every owner has their own story, and that always shines through in the photographs.
Shadow looked right at home amongst the woodland paths, while the yard itself provided the perfect backdrop for timeless portraits. We took our time wandering between locations, capturing plenty of natural moments before finishing in the fields, where Shadow could truly enjoy some of the long meadow grass we were in!
Mia, Emma, Bertie & Teddy
The final session of the day belonged to Mia and Emma, alongside the wonderful Bertie and Teddy.
Photographing multiple people and horses together is always so much fun, and these four made the perfect team. There were lots of laughs throughout the session as we explored each of the locations, creating a gallery filled with genuine smiles, cuddles and plenty of personality.
These two ponies were full of cheekiness, but in such a lovely way, it was beautiful to get to know them throughout our shoot
It was the perfect way to round off a wonderful day.
Looking Ahead
My Highland shoot days are always some of the highlights of my year. Not only do I get to photograph beautiful horses in spectacular scenery, but it's also a brilliant opportunity to catch up with returning clients and meet new faces along the way.
