Woodland Equine Shoot with Amy & Skippy

Our late August shoot with Amy and her thoroughbred, Skippy, took us into the woods for a relaxed and natural session. The trees were still full of greenery, with bits of sunlight flickering through, giving us that soft, late-summer light that works so well for portraits.

In classic thoroughbred style, Skippy decided he’d rather keep moving — so we spent plenty of time walking throughout the woodland, which actually made for some lovely, candid shots. There’s something about those in-between moments that always feels super special.

Amy brought along a few light, summery dresses that suited the setting perfectly — simple, elegant, and comfortable enough for wandering through the woods with Skippy in tow.

I’m really looking forward to seeing all of Amy’s images come together in her 6-in-1 frame. It was an easygoing, enjoyable shoot — just a summer afternoon spent outside with an amazing pair.
