Embracing our very British Summer

What a beautiful April and May we have had. Ceiran and I started planning the shoot back around Christmas time, and we had always aimed to include the bluebells a few minutes walk away from the yard. However, with all the sunshine we've been having, we had to suddenly bring our shoot forwards a few weeks, and make sure we got them at their best bloom stage.

The sun was shining, it had been a very hot day, so we started our shoot later in the evening around 5pm.

These guys are based on the age of Lochore Meadows, and we had a very casual and "everyday style " aim for this shoot, so we decided to wander round the loch, and shoot at whatever locations we came across which can be a super fun way of doing things when you have a partnership as relaxed at these two. . Alfie looked completely at ease, ears forward and coat glowing in the sun—an absolute dream to photograph. Certain’s connection with him was so genuine, and it really came through in the photos. Lottie trotted along beside us, and enjoyed having a few paddles in the water to cool off.

Headshots of the horses are something that we usually do in our black background locations, however the light and dark hedges behind on this part of our path was a non negotiable. It needed up being one of my favourite location from the shoot!

As if that wasn’t enough for one day, we finished up in the most magical bluebell woods. A carpet of violet and green stretched out around us, with soft dappled light filtering through the trees. Alfie stood like a pro in the middle of it all—such a regal presence, but still so gentle.

I couldn’t have asked for a better shoot to celebrate the cloudless weather we have been having. Hopefully this summer we can have for sun-filled days with special moments like these.
